A Constructive and Safe Way for Children to Spend Time – Before and After School Care
As the school year begins, many parents have already made arrangements for their child’s before and after school care. Others are still considering the best, safest way for their children to spend their out-of-school hours. Unfortunately, some parents may feel they don’t have the resources to secure and maintain adequate before and after school care. It can be stressful just thinking about this important decision. Parents may even consider leaving their young ones to get to the school bus safely on their own or let themselves in the house without adult supervision when the school day is over.
Virginia Beach’s Department of Parks and Recreation offers a variety of before and after care programs for children. Many of these programs are conveniently held at your child’s school before the school day begins, while others operate during the after-school hours. In addition, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. This means that you may quality to receive the same level of services as a full paying member, at a fraction of the cost. Visit any of the six recreation centers to get more information. Not sure which center is closest to you? Call 385-1100 or visit the Parks and Rec website.
